Speaking recently on a video posted on YouTube by The Mirror, John Cross discussed West Bromwich Albion’s reported interest in Leicester City striker Islam Slimani.

Since arriving at Leicester from Sporting CP in what was a £27.45 million deal back in 2016, Slimani has gone on to feature just 46 times for the club, scoring 13 goals and providing seven assists along the way.

To kick off our quiz on this past weekend's EFL action, by how many goals did Championship leaders Bristol City beat Nottingham Forest on Saturday?

Last season, the £5.85 million-rated 32-year-old spent the year on loan at AS Monaco, where he scored nine goals and provided seven assists over his 18 Ligue 1 appearances.

Following his return to Leicester this summer, the forward has yet to feature for the club this season, however, a recent report has suggested that West Brom could be willing to offer the player a way out of the club, having reportedly made an inquiry with the Foxes regarding taking the Alergia international on a season-long loan.

This reported interest is something that Cross discussed on a recent video posted on YouTube by The Mirror, with the journalist stating that there could be “a bit of potential” for the move.

He said: “I do think they probably need something, West Brom, don’t they? I can’t pretend that I particularly know that he’s definitely going to go there. I do think that they’re looking, and proving to be quite desperate at the moment, West Brom.

“I do think they could do with another forward. [Slimani] didn’t fulfil [his potential] at Leicester. Maybe there’s a bit of potential there.”

TIF Thoughts…

From Cross’ comments, while the journalist appears unsure as to whether or not the club’s potential move for Slimani will come indeed off, he does state his feelings that West Brom could do with another striker.

However, considering the fact that West Brom have scored five goals in the Premier League this season – the same number as Manchester United and just one less than Manchester City – but have conceded 13 – the most in the league – it could be argued that the club should be looking to strengthen in defence, rather than attack.

Having said this, we will certainly be keeping a very close eye on the club’s potential move for Slimani as the 23:00 transfer deadline draws closer.
