Speaking on a video recently posted on YouTube, Alasdair Gold discussed Son Heung-min’s potential new deal at Tottenham Hotspur.

Since arriving at Spurs from Bayer Leverkusen in what was a £27 million deal back in 2015, Son has gone on to be a huge success in north London, scoring 94 goals and providing 51 assists over his 237 appearances for the club, prior to Monday night’s fixture against Burnley.

How well can you remember the last few weeks of Spurs action? 1. Which played scored a hattrick against Maccabi Haifa?

So far this season, the £67.5 million-rated 28-year-old has highly impressed, scoring seven goals and providing two assists over his five Premier League appearances, averaging a WhoScored match rating of 8.4/10 – ranking him as the club’s second-best performer in the league thus far, with Harry Kane being the only player currently out-performing Son.

There has been recent talk of the club offering the South Korean a new deal, and this is something that Gold discussed in depth on a recent video of his posted on YouTube.

He said: “We just have to talk about [Son] purely because we knew it was in the works anyway, but we essentially got the confirmation from [Jose] Mourinho after the [LASK] match that Spurs and Son are looking to agree a new long-term deal together.

“He said Son loves it at Tottenham – when you see him, he’s just so happy all the time. He said everyone behind the scenes at Spurs adores him, and they want to tie him down to a long contract. He said he feels it will happen sooner rather than later – and that’s brilliant news.”

TIF Thoughts on Alasdair Gold’s comments regarding Son Heung-min’s new contract…

From Gold’s comments, it is clear that the journalist is of the belief that Tottenham do indeed want to ensure Son signs a new long-term deal with the club in the near future, and that everyone at Spurs is delighted with the contributions of the forward.

And, we have to say, going off his goal contributions so far this season, as well as his overall record for the club, we can see why Spurs are so keen to tie the 28-year-old down to a new deal.
