Many Tottenham Hotspur supporters have flocked to a tweet that was recently posted by Spurs news Twitter account @HotspurRelated in which they relayed some reported news concerning Lilywhites duo Serge Aurier and Erik Lamela.
This tweet states that the north London club ‘are set to discuss’ the futures of both Aurier and Lamela and this post cites the Daily Mail as the original source of this claim.
This comes after the Daily Mail recently published a report in which they explained that following ‘a successful transfer window’ Tottenham ‘will now focus on trying to renegotiate the contracts’ of players who are currently at the club.
With both Aurier’s and Lamela’s current respective contracts set to expire at the end of June 2022, this report from the Daily Mail has claimed that the two players’ futures are ‘likely to be discussed,’ however, the article went on to say that ‘there is no indication yet that extensions are imminent for either player.’

Many of the Spurs supporters who replied to this tweet called for the two players to be sold, with some Tottenham fans sharing that they aren’t big fans of these two players, while other Spurs fans indicated that they would be happy for the north London club to sell both Aurier and Lamela if they can find better replacements.

Get rid of Aurier if a replacement is found. Sell Lamela if we can find a two footed creative, number 10 type who can cover when GLC is injured. That would be a real upgrade then as we’ve got cover on the wing for Son and Bale.

Aurier has impressively earned the third-highest overall WhoScored rating of any Tottenham player in the Premier League so far this term, while Lamela is currently Spurs’ 10th-highest rated player for the 2020/21 Premier League season according to the stats website, with 10 Lilywhites players earning a lower overall rating than him, however, plenty of Tottenham fans continued calling for both of these players to be sold in response to this tweet.
