Spurs fans on Twitter have been slamming the performance of Steven Bergwijn in the 1-0 defeat against Royal Antwerp in the Europa League on Thursday evening.

The Dutch winger recovered from the slight knock that kept him out of Spurs’ win against Burnley on Monday night to start in Belgium on Thursday evening but he was substituted at half-time as Jose Mourinho made four changes at the break, following a disappointing first-half display from the Lilywhites (per BBC Sport).

Last Word on Spurs shared some stats from the Dutch international’s first-half display, with the winger having 36 touches and a pass accuracy of 85% during the game, whilst he disappointingly lost possession on eight occasions.

WhoScored awarded the 23-year-old an underwhelming 6.15 rating for his performance in Belgium, which seems to be a continuation of the former PSV Eindhoven man’s poor season so far, with him having averaged a poor 6.3/10 rating across his performances in the Premier League thus far (per WhoScored).

So, how did these Spurs fans rate Bergwijn’s display against Royal Antwerp?

Overall, it seems as if the majority of Spurs fans are in agreement that Bergwijn played poorly on Thursday evening, with several fans seemingly in agreement that the young winger needs to lose some weight and start showing the sort of pace supporters were promised when he signed in January.
