Spurs fans have taken to Twitter to praise the performance of Ben Davies in the 7-2 win against Maccabi Haifa in the Europa League.
The Welshman picked up an assist during the game against the Israeli side, which saw him earn a superb 7.44 rating (per Whoscored).
The North London club are now unbeaten in five games following their opening game defeat against Everton (per Sky Sports), and the win on Thursday night secured their spot in the Europa League group stages.
The 27-year-old perhaps needed to impress Jose Mourinho in this game, as new signing Sergio Reguilon was named man of the match in his debut against Chelsea earlier in the week, and it looks as if the Portuguese manager now has two quality left-backs battling it out for a starting spot in his side.
If Davies continues to perform as he did in the Europa League, then perhaps the Spanish international may struggle to keep him out of the team going forward.

Kane, Gio, Davies, Lucas phenomenal. Bergwijn good shift but very unlucky. Dele is back! #THFC

Davies and Aurier seem to be becoming much better after the signings of Reguilon and Doherty.
This internal competition is a great bonus of squad depth that Spurs have been missing for so long. Good to see it in action with the wing-back / full-back positions.#COYS #THFC— Shivam Bahuguna (@JanusBlinked) October 1, 2020
Best I’ve seen Davies play that’s what competition does #thfc

You know were playing a bad team when Ben Davies has 2 assists and is dropping a masterclass

Shout out to Ben Davies. Get’s loads of hate but 2 assist and a very solid performance that first half. He’s a very important member of the squad even if Reguilon is likely to be first choice #TOTMAC #COYS

Having actual competition in his position, may be the best thing that could have happened to Ben Davies #COYS
