Many Tottenham Hotspur fans have flocked to a tweet that was recently posted by the club’s official Twitter account sharing that Juan Foyth has been given a contract extension until 2023 and he has now joined La Liga’s Villarreal on loan for the 2020/21 campaign.

Since joining Spurs from Estudiantes for £11.7m back in August 2017, Foyth has made just 32 appearances for the Lilywhites in all competitions.

Additionally, the 22-year-old centre-back has made just three appearances for the north London club since Jose Mourinho became Tottenham manager last November

With that in mind, it may be fair to say that Foyth has not been a key player for Spurs since joining the club or since Mourinho took over and as a result, it may not come as a big surprise that he has been sent out on loan for the 2020/21 campaign.

A lot of Tottenham fans replied to the club’s tweet relaying this update on Foyth to share their thoughts on this news.

Some Spurs fans replied to this post to wish the £12.15m-rated Argentinian luck with his loan spell.

Hopefully, for Foyth and for the Lilywhites, the player develops positively during his time with Villarreal this season and can be a greater asset for the north London club when he returns from his loan spell.
