Many Tottenham Hotspur fans have flocked to a tweet that was recently posted by the club’s official Twitter account sharing that Juan Foyth has been given a contract extension until 2023 and he has now joined La Liga’s Villarreal on loan for the 2020/21 campaign.
Since joining Spurs from Estudiantes for £11.7m back in August 2017, Foyth has made just 32 appearances for the Lilywhites in all competitions.
Additionally, the 22-year-old centre-back has made just three appearances for the north London club since Jose Mourinho became Tottenham manager last November.
With that in mind, it may be fair to say that Foyth has not been a key player for Spurs since joining the club or since Mourinho took over and as a result, it may not come as a big surprise that he has been sent out on loan for the 2020/21 campaign.
A lot of Tottenham fans replied to the club’s tweet relaying this update on Foyth to share their thoughts on this news.
Juan Foyth has signed a new contract with the Club until 2023 and joined Spanish side Villarreal on loan for the remainder of the 2020/21 season.
Best of luck, @JuanMFoyth! ?#THFC ? #COYS pic.twitter.com/bd5UOQS8x4

He has potential but the loan move to Villarreal will be fantastic for him and should hopefully return to Spurs a better player. Good luck Juan ??

Meanwhile, many other Lilywhites supporters replied to this tweet to praise this piece of business from their club, with plenty of them sharing their approval of this contract extension and loan move for Foyth.
Brilliant decision… He will be a great asset for Spurs. Game time is what he needs at his age. Looking forward his development and coming back to Spurs a better player!

Great news. Signed a new contract and on loan to Villarreal for the rest of the season. Enjoy and learn from the experience. See you back at Spurs next season all the better for it. COYS.
Well done Spurs and Josè too.— Spurred On (@dianelaw47) October 4, 2020
Yes but his contract ends in 2022. So adding an extra year makes sense for the club! Especially if they don’t use the option to buy

Classic Levy, he’ll have 2 years left on his contract after the loan deal, if works out well he’ll be sold for a higher fee
