On the latest video for his YouTube channel, Football.london reporter Alasdair Gold has been discussing the latest goings-on at Tottenham Hotspur, with a focus on some of the transfer business that could be concluded before the deadline.

One topic of conversation on his recent video was Spurs centre-back Cameron Carter-Vickers.

The USA international currently remains with the North London club, despite not being handed a squad number for the 2020/21 season and with his contract expiring at the end of the current season, you could argue that he does not seem to have a future with the Lilywhites.

How well can you remember the last week of Spurs action? 1. Who scored Spurs' first goal in the win against KF Shkendija?

It seems as if the defender, who spent the second half of last season on loan with Luton Town, has been attracting interest from the Championship once again, and we could see him complete a move away following this evening’s deadline, as the window remains open until the 16th October should Premier League clubs want to do deals with clubs in the EFL (per BBC).

Here’s what Gold had to say about Carter-Vickers during his video:

“Cameron Carter-Vickers, [there are] lots of Championship clubs interested in him, Spurs will have to make a decision on that.

“Whether they do it now, whether they wait until the end of the EFL window, we’ll see; there’s no real rush with him because of that – but if they can get in funds earlier, great.

“[It will] be interesting to see with him whether it’s a loan deal or permanent. I think he’s got a year left on his contract, but with all Tottenham contracts, there’s pretty much always an option to extend it by another year.

“So, they could get away with a loan and then stick another year on top, or even bump up his wages with a new contract and get his loan club to pay more in wages.”

TIF Thoughts…

From what Gold suggests, Carter-Vickers will probably depart Spurs, either on loan or a permanent deal, in the near future.

The USA international has managed just four first-team appearances during his time with the club so it is perhaps time for him to move on and try and establish himself elsewhere and after delivering fairly solid performances during his time with the Hatters last season, it is no surprise to hear that he is not short of suitors in the Championship.

It will be interesting to see where the 22-year-old ends up and whether we see him make it as a Premier League player in the future.
