Many Tottenham Hotspur supporters have flocked to a Twitter post from Alasdair Gold of Football.london who claims that Spurs ‘haven’t given up’ on another signing.
So far during this window, the Lilywhites have brought in Gareth Bale, Matt Doherty, Sergio Reguilon, Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, Carlos Vinicius and Joe Hart (as per Transfermarkt).
The journalist believes a centre-back could be ‘the last piece of the puzzle’ as the club look to end their trophy drought.
Inter’s Milan Skriniar has been linked with a move to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium but up until now, a deal is yet to have been reached between the two sides and it remains to be seen if anything will materialise prior to the transfer window closing.
Following the Spurs correspondent’s post, here is how a sample of the club’s supporters have responded on the social media platform.
Please stop it I had given up all hope and you have now got me believing we are bringing someone in. ?

if alasdair is saying this is on, then this is on. I believe him more than fab when it comes to spurs. Fab said Sergio to united, here we go but he said spurs will be where Sergio will play. I believe him as well as u @PremTransferMan

This is good to hear Alasdair.
It’d be a huge shame if we fell at the last hurdle in any of the cups because of a defensive error when we may have avoided it by strengthening at left CB.
Any poss Spurs could look to Championship and have more time to deal?— It all seems a bit trivial now (@MattyFrench82) October 5, 2020
Would you like to see Skriniar come in before the deadline?
Yes
No
Don’t do this ally, I had already accepted it wasn’t happening

Skriniar could be the final piece of the puzzle — a genuine statement of intent from the #THFC board.
Sanchez showed once again how far out of his depth he is at this level, and how big a liability he is.
Alderweireld is aging & Dier is Dier. A new CB is absolutely paramount https://t.co/ioPbB1Gj84

It’s clear from the above responses that many of these Spurs fans would love to see the club sign the £45m-rated Skriniar – though Gold himself has since claimed on Twitter that talks over a move for the centre-back in the current window have come to an end.
The Slovakian made 32 appearances in Serie A last season but according to WhoScored.com, his average performance rating was a somewhat underwhelming 6.61/10.
However, given that according to Gold, Mourinho held a long-term interest the player, we can assume they’ve seen enough to suggest he would be a good addition to their current squad.
