In the latest video for his YouTube channel, Football.london reporter Alasdair Gold has been discussing the latest goings-on at Tottenham Hotspur, with a focus on Spurs’ business in the transfer window and Jose Mourinho’s squad ahead of their next fixture against West Ham United

During the video, the journalist talked about Spurs’ interest in Swansea City defender Joe Rodon. It has been suggested recently that the Lilywhites are keen on signing the 22-year-old defender before the domestic transfer window shuts, perhaps after their failed attempt to bring in Inter centre-back Milan Skriniar.

How well can you remember the last week of Spurs action? 1. Who scored Spurs' first goal in the win against KF Shkendija?

Here’s what Gold had to say about Spurs’ interest in the Wales international during the video:

“It was an incredible transfer window and it’s not quite done yet. The domestic window is open – Joe Rodon is a young 22-year-old Welsh centre-back from Swansea. He’s one that they’re looking at. Some people got a little bit excited on deadline day, saying ‘this was going to be a deadline-day signing at the last minute’. It was never going to be, it was more someone that they enquired about.

“As of the last time I asked around, there was still no bid actually made for Joe Rodon. He’s one they are interested in, but apparently, Swansea value him at almost £20 million. That’s never going to happen at that price in a million years.

“If he is going to move to Tottenham, it will be for far less. I think Tottenham see him more beneath the £10 million mark. This is a guy that [has] been playing in the Championship, but we’re not talking about a £20 million player just yet, but I completely understand why [clubs] would want to protect their assets in that way. So, keep an eye on that situation.”

TIF Thoughts…

From what Gold suggests, Spurs do have a serious interest in signing Rodon, although the two sides are a long way apart when it comes to negotiating a fee for the young defender at the moment.

Is Rodon good enough for Spurs?

With Transfermarkt currently valuing the centre-back at £1.8 million, you can understand why Spurs are keen to pay less than £10 million, however, given the way he has started the season for Steve Cooper’s side, averaging a 7.46 rating across his four appearances in the Championship, you can also understand why the Swans are seemingly demanding such a high fee.
