Andrew Musgrove and Mark Douglas discussed all things Newcastle United on the most recent edition of the Everything is Black and White podcast and during the show, they spent some time talking about the Saudi-backed bid to buy Newcastle United.

This Newcastle United takeover bid from a consortium consisting of PCP Capital Partners, the Reuben brothers and Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund (PIF) hasn’t happened, with the Toon releasing a statement last month claiming that the Premier League rejected the bid, while the Premier League rejected that claim, suggesting that they hadn’t been provided with all of the ‘appropriate information’ from the ‘relevant entities.’

Who will the Toon play in the next round of the Carabao Cup after they beat Newport County on penalties?

Despite that, during this recent edition of the Everything is Black and White podcast Douglas shared that he believes that if a Toon takeover is to happen, “it’s going to be the Saudis” behind it and he then went on to make a claim about the Conservative Party and their interest in this deal happening.

He said: “Politically, there’s a will, I think, to get this deal done. The Conservative Party are keen to get this investment done.

“The immediacy of it has gone, but I’d be really surprised if we don’t hear anything about it ever again.”

Do you think the Conservative Party will help to get this takeover deal done in the future?

TIF Thoughts…

So, as can be seen in what the journalist had to say, it seems that in addition to believing that this potential takeover is not completely dead in the water, he thinks that the Conservative Party would like this deal to be done.

It has previously been reported that the Conservative Party ‘did little to help land the Saudi deal,’ so with that in mind, if Douglas is right about their feelings regarding this takeover and if he is right about the Saudi-backed takeover not being completely dead, then it will be interesting to see if the Conservative Party lend more of a hand to this consortium in the future to help this deal go through.
