Who will the Toon play in the next round of the Carabao Cup after they beat Newport County on penalties?

The Shields Gazette reporter spent quite a bit of time on the club’s proposed takeover after the Newcastle Consortium Supporters group put forward a legal challenge to the Premier League over the takeover.

This led Kennedy to discuss all aspects of the takeover and one topic that he talked about was PIF’s stance on the current situation.

PIF owns some serious wealth and intended to take 80% of the club, with PCP Capital Partners and the Reuben brothers taking 10% each.

So, you would imagine that for this takeover to go any further, they would still need to maintain their interest in Newcastle, and if Kennedy is to be believed, they are still interested a takeover – but they won’t be forever.

He said: “They’re still there, they still want to buy the football club, and that’s all that matters.

“What I would say is, I don’t believe they will be at the table forever.

“So, that’s why this kind of action [by Newcastle Consortium Supporters], which can be pushed through quite quickly, is something that’s really going to be beneficial for the deal.

“It was hinted at in the legal documents [on Tuesday] that everybody wants to have an impact on the January window.”

TIF Thoughts on Kennedy’s view on PIF…

It is interesting to hear that the consortium is thought to want to have an impact on the January transfer window, which is not far away.

So, you would think that for that to happen, this legal challenge would have to move fast and be successful, so it will be interesting to see what happens there.

However, it is good news that, according to Kennedy, PIF are still there and are still interested in buying the Toon.

Now that this legal challenge has been launched, things could get very interesting, and it will be intriguing to see what happens next.
