Attwell has officiated as many as 17 Newcastle United games in his career and he’s yet to give a red card in a game involving the Magpies. Out of those 17 games, Newcastle have won eight and have drawn three games (as per Transfermarkt).

He was also the referee in the club’s 2-0 win over West Ham United earlier in the current campaign. Steve Bruce’s men currently find themselves in the 14th position in the Premier League and have eight points in the bag.

Some other Toon fans had negative things to say about Attwell’s appointment as the referee for the game.

Some Newcastle fans feel pessimistic about Everton’s trip to St. James’ Park, while others are mocking Attwell himself.

Newcastle had failed to beat Everton last season in the Premier League and Carlo Ancelotti’s men are currently at the top of the table. They have lost only one game in the Premier League campaign, while the Magpies haven’t won a single game in their last two league outings.

So because of all that, one can understand why the Newcastle fans are pessimistic ahead of the game at the weekend.
