A lot of Newcastle United fans have flocked to a post from NUFC 360, which contains a link to an article from The Athletic about three Toon players that are costing them around £5m a year to keep.

Who will the Toon play in the next round of the Carabao Cup after they beat Newport County on penalties?

The piece focuses mainly on Henri Saivet, Achraf Lazaar, and Rolando Aarons.

There are some pretty damning statistics in the piece revealing just how much these three cost Newcastle and also how little they have played.

The last time any of them appeared in a Newcastle shirt was January 2018, and in total, they cost the Toon nearly £100,000 per week in wages.

This report has shocked these Toon fans who feel that the club should just get rid of them.

Should Newcastle just get rid of these three?

Yes, they have taken enough money from the club

No, they could be useful

The piece also shows that the Toon need to move on some of their fringe men before they can bring anyone else in and it is claimed that Steve Bruce wants to sign a striker and a centre-back, but that won’t be possible if the likes of Saivet and Lazaar remain.

This post continued to draw the attention of many Toon fans who feel that the club should play the likes of Saivet.

It is quite incredible that Saivet has been with Newcastle for nearly five years and in that time, he has made just eight first-team appearances for the club.

Lazaar has never featured in the Premier League for the Toon despite joining the club in the summer of 2016, and Aarons has not played a game for Newcastle since December 2017.

So, these three seemingly need to be shifted and perhaps the solution is to terminate their contracts like some Newcastle fans have suggested; otherwise, the Toon might not be able to sign anyone else in this transfer window.
