Liverpool podcaster Ross Strachan has been sharing his praise for Thiago Alcantara and his performance in the Reds’ 2-2 draw against Everton at the weekend.

This comes after Strachan’s summary of the draw at Goodison Park was recently featured on the latest episode of the Liverpool Echo’s Blood Red Podcast.

First up in this Steven Gerrard quiz, how old is the former Liverpool man?

During his assessment of the match, Strachan had this to say on Thiago.

He said: “I thought man of the match – Thiago Alcantara, unbelievable, what a player he’s going to be for Liverpool. Keeps the ball moving so well, left to right, forward, back, looks a threat. He created that goal at the end with his little no-look pass into [Sadio] Mane.

“He’s an absolute class act and I think he could take us to the next level. Brilliant player, brilliant performance from him and I look forward to seeing him in a red shirt for the rest of the season.”

Liverpool signed the midfielder in the previous summer transfer window from German club Bayern Munich on a four-year deal for a fee of £20 million that could rise to £25 million with bonuses.

Thiago was one of Liverpool’s standout performers against Everton with WhoScored giving him a match rating of 7.26/10 with only Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane ahead of the 29-year-old.

The Spaniard made 79 passes against Everton, more than any other Liverpool player and ended the match with a pass accuracy percentage of 92.4% (per WhoScored).

TIF Thoughts on Ross Strachan’s assessment of Thiago…

It’s great to hear this praise Strachan has for Thiago. The fact that the midfielder put in such a good performance against Everton shows that he has settled into the team well already.

Hopefully, Thiago can continue putting in good performances for Liverpool throughout the season and show why the club signed him.
