Many Celtic fans have been fuming at Vasilis Barkas following his performance in the recent Old Firm derby.

Barkas had started the Old Firm derby on Saturday but he couldn’t stop Connor Goldson from putting two goals past the Hoops in the game. The Gers won 2-0 and they now have a four-point lead over Neil Lennon’s men in the Premiership table.

Barkas joined Celtic from Greek club AEK Athens in the summer transfer window for an initial fee of £2.95 million. The deal included further add-ons based on appearances (as per Sky Sports).

The Hoops had failed to sign Fraser Forster in the summer transfer window. Barkas has now made 13 appearances in all competitions so far, keeping eight clean sheets and conceding just as many goals (as per Transfermarkt).

Some other Celtic fans also criticised Barkas’ performance in the Old Firm.

These Celtic fans clearly aren’t happy about Barkas’ performance, with one fan claiming that the Greek star is the worst goalkeeper that the club has ever had. Barkas is currently valued at £4.5m.

He picked up a rating of 6.18 in the game on Saturday and it was the third-lowest rating that he’s picked up in a Celtic shirt in his appearances in the Scottish Premiership thus far.

It shows that the performance wasn’t exactly impressive and perhaps, fans and the pundits are right to criticise him too.
