Journalist Steve Dawson has recently made a claim about Liverpool’s Adrian and his performance against Ajax in the UEFA Champions League recently.

Dawson was recently a guest on the latest episode of the Blood Red podcast and the panel discussed multiple issues involving Liverpool following their 1-0 win over Ajax in the Champions League. Dawson talked about the performance of Adrian and he believes that the Spaniard was both dodgy and brilliant in the game.

An own goal from Nicolas Tagliafico proved enough for Jurgen Klopp’s men to take all three points in Amsterdam on Wednesday. Adrian had started the game and Fabinho played at centre-back beside Joe Gomez (as per Whoscored).

Dawson believes that Adrian’s performance against Ajax just sums up his time at Liverpool so far in what was a mixed display – but he was also one of the reasons why the Dutch giants couldn’t score in the game.

He said: “Adrian was both dodgy and brilliant, which does I think fairly accurately sum up his time in a Liverpool shirt. He’s a good shot-stopper, but he needs to move the ball along much more quickly when the ball is at his feet.

“He does make your heart stop a little bit but he’s a good shot-stopper and he was one of the significant reasons, I suppose – Adrian together with some good fortune, are the reasons that Ajax were unable to score.”

First up in this Steven Gerrard quiz, how old is the former Liverpool man?

TIF Thoughts…

While Fabinho picked up the highest rating in the game on Wednesday, Adrian picked up a rating of 7.56 as well. He was the third-highest rated Liverpool player in the game – behind Fabinho and Joe Gomez (as per Whoscored).

It shows that the 33-year-old’s performance was pretty good and it was also his best performance in all competitions this season for Jurgen Klopp’s men. Because of that, Dawson’s praise for the former West Ham United man seems very justified.
