LFC Daytrippers contributor Grizz Khan has been discussing the future of Divock Origi during a recent edition of the podcast.

The Belgian striker has been linked with a move away from Anfield during this transfer window but up until now, nothing has materialised.

Origi famously scored the club’s second goal in the 2019 UEFA Champions League final in Madrid, during which they defeated their Premier League rivals Tottenham Hotspur (as per BBC Sport).

According to The Times (via TEAMtalk), the 25-year-old was told he could leave earlier this month but in Khan’s view, he will still be a Liverpool player when the transfer window closes next week. Here is what he had to say:

“[Divock] Origi will probably be kept on, only because of the fact [we] just won’t get the fee that we’re looking [for]. Otherwise, we are, from what I’ve been told, very willing to move him on.”

First up in this Steven Gerrard quiz, how old is the former Liverpool man?

TIF Thoughts…

It’s clear from what the podcaster has had to say, he doesn’t believe Liverpool will receive an offer that reflects the club’s valuation of the player between now and next week’s deadline.

According to Transfermarkt, Origi is valued at £14.4m. During his time with the Reds, he has made 142 first-team appearances, scoring 35 goals and providing his teammates with 13 assists.

Do you think Divock Origi will be sold in the closing stages of this transfer window?

The former Lille man came on as a substitute during the club’s recent Carabao Cup defeat at the hands of Arsenal, replacing Mohamed Salah on around about the hour mark.

Unfortunately for the player, he was one of two players who missed penalties in the shootout for Jurgen Klopp’s side.
