Speaking recently on the Inside Elland Road podcast, Graham Smyth discussed Leeds United’s seemingly imminent new signing, Michael Cuisance.

Since joining Bayern Munich from Borussia Monchengladbach in what was a £10.8 million deal last year, Cuisance has gone on to feature 11 times for Bayern, chipping in with one goal and providing one assist along the way.

Who did Leeds sign from a La Liga side in September?

However, it would appear as if one full season will be the extent of the £9 million-rated 21-year-old’s stay in Munich, with Leeds said to be ‘closing in‘ on the signing of the midfielder.

The potential addition of Cuisance further adds to the busy summer Marcelo Bielsa’s side have had in the transfer market, with the club having already added the likes of Rodrigo, Diego Llorente, Robin Koch and Joe Gelhardt to their ranks.

The seemingly imminent signing of the France U20 international was one topic of conversation on a recent episode of the Inside Elland Road podcast, with Smyth touching on a potential concern regarding the 21-year-old.

He said: “Let’s talk about it now then, Michael Cuisance – French, 21, playing for Bayern Munich, or not playing as much as he’d like for Bayern Munich, hence the move.

“[He has a] very, very good left foot, we’re told. Obviously thinks very, very highly of himself, which might be a concern, were it not for the environment he’s coming into and the head coach that he’ll be working for.

“I almost feel like, at this stage, Marcelo Bielsa, his reputation and what we know about him, is enough to calm the nerves when it comes to almost any signing.”

TIF Thoughts…

From Smyth’s comments, it would appear as if the journalist is of the belief that Cuisance has a high opinion of himself, which Smyth feels would be a problem were the player not coming to play in a team managed by Bielsa.

Whether or not Cuisance’s opinion of himself does indeed turn out to be a problem for Leeds, should their proposed deal to sign the player go through, only time will tell, but it is clear that Smyth believes Bielsa is a manager who has the potential to deal with the player’s apparent arrogance.
