Fans of Leeds United have been reacting to a post on Twitter, in which Phil Hay comments on the future of the club’s director of football Victor Orta.

According to a recent report by Gazzetta dello Sport (via Sky Sports), Orta has ’emerged as a top target’ for AS Roma, with the Italian club reported to be on the lookout for a new director of football.

Who did Leeds sign from a La Liga side in September?

After a fan of Leeds cited this report on Twitter, asking Hay whether or not there was any truth to the story, the journalist replied by stating that Orta had been ‘linked with quite a few’ director of football jobs in the past as he is ‘well respected in the game’, however, Orta ‘wanted to give Leeds at least this season’ before moving on to another club.

In reaction to this news, fans of Leeds flocked to have their say on the matter, with many stating that they do not want to see Orta leave the club any time soon.

Orta arrived at Leeds in 2017 and has been credited as being an ‘instrumental’ factor in appointing Marcelo Bielsa as the club’s manager, under whose tenure Leeds have won the Championship title and are currently sitting in eighth place in the Premier League table.

In addition to this, Orta has overseen the signings of Rodrigo, Diego Llorente, Robin Koch and Joe Gelhardt this season, as well as Ian Poveda and the loan signing of Ben White last season, amongst many others.

Do you think Leeds would suffer relegation if they were to lose Orta?

It would seem that Leeds fans appear to believe that Orta is an extremely important part of their club, with a great deal more taking to Twitter to share their feelings at the prospect of the director of football leaving.

All in all, it would seem the vast majority of these Leeds fans are desperate for Orta to remain at their club, and, we have to say, considering the progression Leeds have made under the guidance of the director of football, he could indeed be a big loss.
