Leeds United journalist Graham Smyth has been sharing his thoughts on Whites full-back Stuart Dallas.

This comes after Smyth recently co-hosted the latest episode of the Yorkshire Evening Post’s Inside Elland Road podcast where he spoke about a number of topics concerning Marcelo Bielsa’s side.

Who did Leeds sign from a La Liga side in September?

On the topic of Dallas and how much he would potentially be worth in the current transfer market, Smyth had this to say about the 29-year-old.

He said: “Questions have been asked over him when it comes to midfield, we know that he says himself it’s not his best position, he probably sees that as right-back or left-back or right-wing, in one of his several positions that he’s played, but he was superb [against Sheffield United], I mean, he was everywhere.

“He got Leeds up the pitch and he’s got this knack now of running the ball at pace out of defence, playing one-touch football to link up with others, really clever little moves.

“Given that he can play so many positions, he’s unbelievably important to Leeds United in the Premier League and yet a player like that, at his age, he’s probably going to cost a fraction of what some of the players that are being sold this summer are going for.

“It’s funny the way the market works because you’ve got to take into consideration age and how much football he’s got left but Stuart Dallas looks like he’s getting better all the time.”

Leeds signed Dallas back in the 2015 summer transfer window from Championship side Brentford for a fee of £1.71 million.

Since then, the 29-year-old, who is currently valued at £2.16 million, has made a total of 195 appearances for Leeds in which he has managed to score 19 goals and provide 15 assists along the way (per Transfermarkt).

In Leeds’ recent 1-0 win over Sheffield United at Bramall Lane last weekend, Dallas played in a central midfield role, earning himself a decent match rating of 7.16/10 (per WhoScored).

TIF Thoughts…

Given that Dallas put in a solid performance for Leeds against Sheffield United whilst operating in a different playing position, this shows just how important he can be for the team when called upon, as Smyth mentioned on the podcast.
