Aston Villa podcaster Chris Budd has been sharing his thoughts on Villa full-back Matty Cash and his time at the Birmingham club so far.

This comes after Budd recently made an appearance on Villa-themed podcast My Old Man Said where he spoke about a number of topics surrounding Dean Smith’s side.

First up in this quiz on Gabriel Agbonlahor, how old is the former Villa man?

On the subject of Cash, who played in Villa’s recent 3-0 win against Fulham in the Premier League, Budd shared a largely positive assessment of what he has seen from the right-back so far.

He said: “He’s mobile, isn’t he? And he’s willing and he doesn’t give up.

“He’s got that real snap in his tackles, he’s got a really nasty side, which I’m really impressed by and I think he’s probably got more that he can offer going forward.

“I think that will come as we get the games in, he did put in a couple of cracking crosses actually, he did it in the Sheffield United game actually, his delivery is very good when he gets into those positions.”

Villa signed Cash earlier in the current transfer window from Nottingham Forest for a fee of £14.18 million. Since then, the Englishman has played in both of Villa’s first two Premier League matches this season.

Cash’s performance in the recent game against Fulham earned him an impressive match rating of 8.4/10 (per WhoScored).

Defensively, Cash made seven tackles, three interceptions, four clearances and blocked two shots at Craven Cottage earlier in the week for Villa.

TIF Thoughts…

It’s great to see that Cash seems to have settled into this Villa team well by putting in a solid performance against Fulham.

Even though he has only been at the Birmingham club for a short period of time, it’s nice to hear that Budd has been impressed by what he has seen from the defender so far.

Hopefully, Cash, who is currently valued at £4.32 million, can continue putting in good performances for Villa throughout the rest of the season.
