Fans of Celtic have been reacting to a post on Twitter, which relays the news that former Hoops defender Jozo Simunovic’s proposed move to Rijeka has fallen through.
According to a recent report by the Daily Record, the defender, who was released by Neil Lennon’s side earlier this summer, has now twice seen moves fall through over the summer transfer window as a result of his poor injury history.
The report states that Turkish side Trabzonspor also ‘abandoned a move to sign him’ after ‘expressing concerns about his fitness’, while Rijeka, the latest club to show an interest in the 26-year-old, have now pulled out for similar reasons.
After this news was relayed on Twitter by Everything Celtic, fans of the club flocked to have their say on the matter, with some suggesting that Celtic’s behaviour in letting Simunovic leave was poor.
This is quite sad.
A young player with many qualities and as many trophies.
He will be thinking – at this moment – that his career might never begin again.
A comrade we abandoned during the storm. I still remain unhappy with the club’s conduct. https://t.co/QBwtUh9ZxQ

After arriving at Celtic from Dinamo Zagreb in what was a £6.75 million deal back in 2015, Simunovic went on to make 126 appearances for the Hoops, chipping in with five goals and three assists along the way.
The 26-year-old helped Celtic to win five consecutive Scottish Premiership titles, as well as three Scottish Cups and three Scottish League Cups, prior to being released from Parkhead earlier this summer.
Do you think Celtic were right to release Simunovic?
Yes
No
After the news of his failed move to Rijeka surfaced on Twitter, many more fans of the club shared their thoughts on the matter.
Best of luck to him hope he finds a club soon.

Considering just how much Simunovic was injured during his time in Glasgow, in our opinion, it is not overly surprising that Lennon felt the need to let the defender go this summer.
However, it is clear from their comments that many Celtic fans wish the best for the 26-year-old, and hope that he finds a new club in the near future.
