Many Celtic fans have been discussing the latest transfer news update linking the club with a move to sign Paris Saint-Germain defender Mitchel Bakker.

It was recently reported by Sky Sports journalist Anthony Joseph that the Hoops have had a loan bid rejected by Paris Saint-Germain for Bakker. The journalist’s tweet also revealed that PSG ‘have not completely closed the door’ on potentially dealing with Celtic regarding a move for the Dutchman.

The 20-year-old made five first-team appearances for PSG in the 2019/20 season. He arrived at the French club in the summer of 2019 on a free transfer after coming through the ranks at Dutch giants Ajax.

Other Celtic fans also had positive things to say about the news involving Bakker in response to the post.

Clearly, Celtic fans are optimistic about this news and they have a lot of praise for Bakker already. They’re making it clear that they want this move to happen.

Celtic are reportedly looking at potential replacements for Boli Bolingoli, who broke quarantine rules after taking a trip to Spain a few weeks ago. Bakker didn’t get too much first-team football last season and arguably needs regular game time to develop as a footballer.

He would add depth to the left-back position for Celtic and may get some regular first-team football. Therefore, a move to Parkhead will help Celtic and favour Bakker’s development. If PSG agree to loan him out, even they could benefit from this move as they may get a better player upon his eventual return to Paris.
