Rangers manager Steven Gerrard was interviewed by RangersTV following his side’s 4-0 Premiership win over Dundee United on Saturday and the 40-year-old spent some time praising the Gers’ Finnish midfielder Glen Kamara during that post-match interview which was posted on the Glasgow-based club’s official YouTube channel.
Kamara didn’t start Saturday’s game, however, the midfielder was introduced to the contest in the 11th minute when Ryan Jack was withdrawn from the pitch due to an injury.
As per WhoScored, the 24-year-old made more interceptions (four) than any other player from either side in this contest, while he also made the fourth-highest number of passes (55) of any Rangers player in this game.
Here is what Gerrard had to say about the former Arsenal youth player’s performance versus Dundee United: “The previous coaches that have worked with Glen at Arsenal and when he’s moved on have done a fantastic job, he’s been schooled right.
“I think he fits into our system like a glove. He could’ve started today, without a shadow of a doubt, he’s certainly pushing. I thought he was very good when he [came] on.
“Over the course of the season, Glen Kamara’s going to get many appearances.”
Were you impressed by Kamara's performance versus Dundee United?
YES
NO
TIF Thoughts…
So, as can be seen in what the Rangers manager had to say, it’s clear that he was impressed by Kamara’s performance at the weekend and it seems as though he values what the 24-year-old can offer the Gers on the pitch.
Given that Kamara hasn’t started any of Rangers’ last three Premiership games, it will be interesting to see if he has earned himself a place in the Gers’ starting XI moving forward following his positive performance versus Dundee United.
