David Edgar, Dave Marshall and Colin McMillan discussed all things Rangers on the latest edition of the Heart and Hand podcast, where the panel spent some time discussing Ryan Kent, who has reportedly been the subject of interest from Leeds United during the current transfer window.

The panel reflected on the Gers’ 2-0 win over Hamilton Academical from this past weekend during the show and Edgar was full of praise for Kent’s performance in that game.

Rangers fan? We bet you can't get 100% in this Rangers 2019/20 season quiz. First up, which French side did Rangers beat at Ibrox 4-0 in a pre-season friendly?

The 23-year-old, who joined the Glasgow-based club from Liverpool for £6.48m back in September 2019, played the entirety of Saturday’s clash with Hamilton and he delivered an impressive performance, making the highest number of key passes (five), completing the joint-highest number of dribbles (three) and taking the joint-highest number of shots on target (two) of any Rangers player in this fixture, as per WhoScored.

Kent ended this contest with the third-highest overall WhoScored rating (7.88) of any Rangers player.

Edgar commended the 23-year-old’s performance at the weekend during this recent edition of the Heart and Hand podcast and he also shared his thoughts on the significance of the role that he believes Kent will play for the Glasgow-based club this term.

The podcaster said: “A large part of today’s show was going to be praising and waxing lyrical about him, but David brought him up there, Ryan Kent, who was sensational, never stopped.

“His movement is incredible and it must be murder to play against him because he never stops. He’s always dragging people out of position. You can see that they’re not sure whether to pass him on or whether they should go with him and it’s constant – he never lets up.

“To me, so far this season, Ryan Kent seems to have stepped up a gear.

“Now he looks incredibly comfortable and he looks as though he’s revelling with the responsibility that comes with being, if you like, one of the defining characters within the side.”

TIF Thoughts…

So, in addition to being impressed with Kent’s performance against Hamilton last Saturday, judging by these comments, it appears as though Edgar believes that Kent will play a very significant role for the Gers this term, with the podcaster describing the former Liverpool man as “one of the defining characters” in Rangers’ current squad.

It is difficult to argue with Edgar’s comments on the 23-year-old’s significance to the Gers, as so far this season, Kent is the Glasgow-based club’s top league goalscorer. Kent is also the Gers’ second-highest rated player in the league this term, according to WhoScored, so we feel that it might be understandable why Rangers fans, such as Edgar, may be impressed with the Englishman’s start to the 2020/21 campaign.
