Colin Armstrong of the Gersnet podcast has been discussing the potential issues if Alfredo Morelos remains a Rangers player at the end of this transfer window.

The Colombian striker has been the subject of a bid from the French Ligue 1 outfit Lille in the current transfer window but Rangers are said to be holding out for a fee of £20m for the 24-year-old.

Rangers signed Morelos from HJK Helsinki back in July 2017 in a deal worth £1.08m (as per Transfermarkt.co.uk) so even if they were to compromise slightly on their asking price they would stand to make a huge profit on the player who is now valued at £13.5m, according to Transfermarkt.

Rangers fan? We bet you can't get 100% in this Rangers 2019/20 season quiz. First up, which French side did Rangers beat at Ibrox 4-0 in a pre-season friendly?

Since his arrival, the player has scored 79 goals and provided 31 assists in 142 appearances for the Glasgow-based club, highlighting just how much of an impact he has had at Ibrox.

Here is what Armstrong had to say on the matter:

“If Mr Morelos was to stay, I think that might cause us a problem, because as much as we all love him, as much as he’s done such a great job for Rangers, I think his heart is totally set on getting his move.

“If that doesn’t happen, then I don’t quite know where he would be mentally and whether he would become a bit of a problem within the dressing room, because he strikes me as someone who doesn’t deal with that sort of stuff well. His body language recently, the strops that he has – I don’t think Steven Gerrard would want that in the dressing room.”

Will Rangers have to lower their asking price to move on Morelos?

TIF Thoughts…

It’s clear that Armstrong has concerns with regards to the negative impact Morelos could have on the dressing room if the move he wants doesn’t materialise between now and the end of the transfer window.

In our view, it is a fair concern to have and everyone associated with the club will be hoping that in that event, Steven Gerrard is able to continue to get the kind of output he has previously gotten out of the forward as they hope to win their first Scottish Premiership title since the 2010/11 season.
