Pundit Paul John Dykes has been discussing the possibility of Hibernian manager Jack Ross managing Celtic in the future.

Dykes was hosting the latest episode of the A Celtic State of Mind podcast and he spoke about multiple issues involving Celtic. He also talked about Ross and the possibility of the Hibernian boss managing the Bhoys at some point in the future.

Dykes revealed that he talked to someone at Sky Sports about this, but the reporter didn’t feel that Ross has enough ability to manage the Hoops.

Which player played the highest number of minutes in all competitions for Celtic in the 2019/20 season?

Ross has been at Hibs since November 2019 and before that, he was managing Sunderland. He was at the Stadium of Light for as many as 501 days.

Hibs are currently third in the Premiership table and they recently lost 3-0 to Celtic and drew 2-2 with the Hoops’ Old Firm rivals.

When talking about Ross and the possibility of him managing at Parkhead, Dykes said: “I think, on Twitter quite a few times I’ve suggested that I’ve seen something in Jack Ross [and] that he might have been a Celtic manager in the future.

“Maybe overplaying it a wee bit, to be fair.

“I was speaking to a Sky Sports reporter and I asked the question, ‘In the future, has he got what it takes to develop into someone of that stature?’

“The Sky Sports reporter didn’t think he did. He thought he was a very accomplished coach in his own right but he didn’t think he had what it took to take it to the next level.”

TIF Thoughts…

During his time at Hibs so far, Ross has helped the club win 15 times in 31 games. Under him, the Scottish club has lost nine games and has drawn seven times. At Sunderland, he picked up 1.91 points per match as well (as per Transfermarkt).

Those are decent numbers – even though the Sky Sports reporter that Dykes talked to doesn’t agree that Ross can manage Celtic in the future.

If the 44-year-old can help Hibs win a trophy and helps them progress further, his reputation would only get better and perhaps that would convince people about his abilities as a manager.
