Podcaster John McGinley has recently made a claim about the club’s striker Albian Ajeti following the club’s 5-0 win over Ross County in the Premiership.

McGinley was a guest on the latest episode of The Grand Auld Podcast and the panel discussed multiple issues involving the Parkhead-based club. They also talked about the club’s performance in their recent 5-0 win over Ross County. While talking about the game, McGinley focused on Ajeti and how he played on Saturday.

Which player played the highest number of minutes in all competitions for Celtic in the 2019/20 season?

Ajeti found the back of the net against Ross County, while Odsonne Edouard and Patryk Klimala scored a goal each too. Shane Duffy and Kristoffer Ajer scored one goal each as well (as per BBC Sport).

McGinley had praise for Ajeti and he believes that the manner in which he scored his goal is something that Celtic are ‘missing’.

He said: “In terms of the Ajeti goal, I just thought the way he was so hungry to get onto the ball and smash it home, that is the thing we’ve been missing. And that’s the thing that is really going to help [Odsonne] Edouard out, because he basically carried us for large portions last season and [there’s] so much responsibility for him to get a goal every match. I know he scored yesterday, but just having someone else there is just a big thing for the club and for him.

Has Ajeti impressed you already?

“I think it is just what we’ve been crying out for and hopefully, that partnership becomes as fruitful as the [Leigh] Griffiths and Edouard partnership did in the second half of last season.”

TIF Thoughts…

The Swiss striker, who is valued at £4.32m, joined Celtic from West Ham for a £4.5 million fee. Ajeti has now made five appearances in all competitions for Celtic this season and he has scored three goals for the Bhoys already. He has now scored in each of his appearances in the Premiership in the current campaign.

It shows how reliable a goalscorer Ajeti has become for Celtic and the fact that he scored in his first start in all competitions for the club perhaps suggests that he may go on to become a very important player for the Hoops in the current campaign.
