Louis McCaffrey has been on the latest edition of The Cynic podcast to discuss the latest news to do with the Hoops.

Starting with an easy one - which club did Celtic sign Moussa Dembele from?

One of the topics that came up in the podcast was the future of Leigh Griffiths, and it is fair to say that McCaffrey does not think that the former Wolverhampton Wanderers man has any future at Celtic Park.

It seems as if in McCaffrey’s mind, Griffiths’ Celtic career is over as he has let the club and the fans down one too many times.

He said: “Don’t get me wrong, I think Griffiths – and he’s proved it time and time again – that he is a superb finisher when he wants to be, but we need to be able to rely on him and I think [Neil] Lennon and the club have had their fingers burnt too many times with him now and he’s losing all the goodwill that he had.

“Purely from a footballing point of view, I think he’s let them down, I think he’s let the people at the club down, and he’s let us down as well.

“So, for me, Griffiths is finished.”

Is this the end for Griffiths?

Yes, time to go

No, deserves another chance

TIF Thoughts…

The 30-year-old has had battles with his mental health, and McCaffrey is not talking about those issues, and he makes a point to prove he isn’t (37:50), but he thinks on the football side of things Griffiths has let the club down too many times.

The former Scotland international forward turned up to pre-season training for the 2020/21 season unfit, and Lennon left him home when they went off to France; he has been given many chances by the club, but he might not get many more.

Griffiths has a very good goalscoring record for the Bhoys, but they have quite a few players who can play as a striker, so you can see why Griffiths could be finished.

The 30-year-old, who is valued at £1.8 million (as per Transfermarkt), has not made a single appearance in any of Celtic’s games this season, so it looks like his time at Celtic Park could be up.
