Charlie Adam has recently made a claim about James McClean regarding if the player would like to join Celtic or not.

Adam was a guest on the latest episode of PLZ Soccer’s The Football Show and the panel discussed many issues surrounding Scottish football. They also talked about potential Celtic transfers.

Co-panellist Alan Rough brought up the subject of McClean having apparently heard recent rumours linking the midfielder to the Hoops, with former Stoke City teammate Adam displaying his admiration for the Irishman, suggesting that he would ‘dream’ of a Parkhead move.

Starting with an easy one - which club did Celtic sign Moussa Dembele from?

The 31-year-old is known to be a Celtic fan, and when talking about the idea of McClean potentially joining Celtic in the future, Adam had some positive things to say about it.

He said: “He’s an animal. He’s one of the fittest lads that I’ve ever met in my life. He’s unbelievable. He’s at it every day, he’s [a] top professional.”

Would you like Celtic to sign McClean?

“I wouldn’t be surprised if he did end up at Celtic. I know it’s something he would dream of. ”

TIF Thoughts…

Before Stoke, McClean previously plied his trade with the likes of Wigan Athletic, West Bromwich Albion and Sunderland. He can play in the left-midfield position and can also play on the left-wing or at left-back.

Celtic are looking at potential replacements for Boli Bolingoli after he breached quarantine rules and McClean is someone who can play in the left-back position as well.

Mikey Johnston is currently out injured, leaving Mohamed Elyounoussi as Celtic’s only out-and-out left-wing option. So, McClean would add depth to that position as well. Him being a Celtic fan might be another bonus for the Hoops.

So in that sense, making a move for McClean may be a good thing for Celtic if they can afford to sign the 31-year-old.
