The Athletic’s Roshane Thomas has recently heaped praise upon West Ham United’s English attacker Grady Diangana.

During his season on loan with West Bromwich Albion, the forward bagged an impressive eight goals and six assists in 30 league appearances (per WhoScored).

The 22-year-old winger’s performances were enough to earn him a solid 7.13/10 average rating which made him the Baggies’ third-best performer in the Championship (per WhoScored).

In the latest episode of The Athletic’s U Irons podcast, Thomas discussed Diangana and aired his thoughts on him.

To kick-off this quiz on David Moyes on the hard side, which club was his first game on the touchline at the London Stadium against?

He said: “He was brilliant against Ipswich Town. Okay, we know Ipswich are a League One side and it’s pre-season, but still, he was really good.

“What really impressed me in that match was his understanding and his interplay with Sebastien Haller – I thought that was really good.

“You know, sometimes, when a player comes back from loan or a player comes back from a long-term injury, the manager always says ‘oh, said player’s like a new signing.’

“I know it’s cliche, but I feel like [that] will definitely apply to Diangana because he will feel like a new signing for West Ham.

“He’ll slot in perfectly in the left-hand flank in my opinion and providing he plays and gets a chance, I feel like he’ll do well for us.”

TIF Thoughts…

As can be seen in what Thomas had to say about Diangana, he clearly believes that the English attacker could be “like a new signing” for the Hammers next season.

Should Grady Diangana be a first-team regular for West Ham next season?

However, a recent report from The Sun has stated that West Brom, Fulham, Celtic and Ajax are all interested in acquiring the winger’s services permanently.

It is also stated that the 22-year-old attacker is ‘reluctant‘ to return to the London Stadium without assurances over getting first-team football.

So, it does seem slightly up in the air whether or not Diangana will get the opportunity to be “like a new signing” for West Ham next season.
