In-the-know podcaster @ExWHUemployee has discussed recent West Ham United transfer target and Burnley defender James Tarkowski.

Last week, it was reported that the Hammers had seen a third bid for the 27-year-old centre-back get rejected by the Clarets (per Sky Sports).

Supposedly, West Ham’s most recent offer was worth £31m and around £25m of that would have been paid upfront should Burnley have accepted the deal.

During a recent interview with TalkSPORT, the Irons’ co-chairman David Sullivan seemed to discuss Tarkowski without mentioning his name and suggested it would not make sense “to spend your entire budget on a 28-year-old centre-back.”

In the latest episode of The West Ham Way podcast, @ExWHUemployee discussed the latest with the centre-back and made a claim regarding his future.

Who did West Ham United face in their opening fixture of the 2020/21 Premier League season?

He said: “Now, Tarkowski, David Sullivan’s already stated, he said that ‘[the] 28-year-old centre-back that will remain nameless’ but, let’s be honest, it is him.

“Burnley are playing Millwall, of all teams [on Wednesday], and again he’s not featured – and I have been told by a decent source that he is trying to force a move.

“Now, whether that’s to get out of Burnley for someone else, I don’t know. I don’t think he does [want to come down south] but I think it might be more [for a move] to Leicester.

“I think he would come down south for £100,000 a week or whatever it is we’re prepared to pay.”

TIF Thoughts…

As can be seen in what the in-the-know pundit had to say, he seems to believe that Tarkowski is trying to “force a move” away from Turf Moor.

However, he believes that he may be trying to force a move to Brendan Rodgers’ Leicester, as they have also been linked with a move for the centre-back.

Do you think West Ham should offer more money to try and sign James Tarkowski?

Despite the claim from @ExWHUemployee, it has been stated by Lancs Live that Sean Dyche expects the defender to stay with Burnley beyond deadline day.

It is also claimed that the Clarets are ‘under no financial pressure’ to sell Tarkowski, so, it will be interesting to see what happens with the defender before the window closes.
