Football journalist David Ornstein has been discussing the possibility of West Ham United making a move for Arsenal full-back Sead Kolasinac.

This comes after Ornstein recently co-hosted the latest episode of The Athletic’s Ornstein and Chapman Podcast where he spoke about a number of subjects related to David Moyes’ side.

Who did West Ham United face in their opening fixture of the 2020/21 Premier League season?

On the topic of some potential defensive transfer targets the club could be looking to sign this summer, Ornstein mentioned Kolasinac as one potential target.

He said: “Sead Kolasinac of Arsenal is someone they admire. There’s a good chance that he could be leaving the Emirates Stadium.

“There’s been interest from Germany that we’ve known about, it’s been well-documented, his old club Schalke, but we don’t know, he could stay at Arsenal.

“We’re not saying anything for certain on that one, or that West Ham and David Moyes, in particular, when he reviews these options and these recruitment lists, will want to go for him.”

The 27-year-old, who is currently valued at £14.4 million, signed to Arsenal back in the 2017 summer window on a free transfer from Bundesliga side FC Schalke 04.

Since then, the defender has gone on to make 105 appearances for Arsenal across all competitions in which he has managed to score five goals and provide 15 assists along the way (per Transfermarkt).

Despite proving himself as an attacking threat for Arsenal with his goals and assists since he joined the club, the 2019/20 Premier League season was a disappointing one for the Bosnia international, earning himself an underwhelming season rating of 6.50/10 (per WhoScored).

TIF Thoughts…

Looking at Kolasinac’s season rating for Arsenal’s previous campaign, it’s hard to see just what West Ham admire about him as Ornstein said in the podcast.

Either way, with Kolasinac, who is valued at £14.4 million (as per Transfermarkt), having made a total of 77 appearances for Arsenal in the Premier League, he could certainly offer the Hammers some experience in the top flight if they were to make a move for him.
