Everton writer Greg O’Keeffe recently appeared on The Ornstein & Chapman podcast and has been discussing a number of topics with regards to the club.

Carlo Ancelotti’s side started their Premier League season with an away victory over Jose Mourinho’s Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday and among other things, the journalist discussed the club’s transfer plans for the remainder of this window.

To kick off this quiz on Everton transfers, which player was the Toffees' club-record transfer fee paid on according to Transfermarkt?

So far, the Toffees have brought in Allan, Abdoulaye Doucoure, Niels Nkounkou and James Rodriguez (as per Transfermarkt). According to O’Keeffe, they may not be done just yet. Here is what he had to say:

“I think they’ll do some more [business].

“They’ve looked at Santiago Arias at Atletico [Madrid] and they’ve looked at Diogo Dalot at [Manchester] United. They do like those two players, so it wouldn’t surprise me if something happens later on in the window.”

Do you expect Everton to do more business during this transfer window?

TIF Thoughts…

Judging by O’Keeffe’s comments, it appears the club are considering a move for a right-back. Jonjoe Kenny has recently returned from a loan spell with Schalke in the Bundesliga last season, for whom he made 31 league appearances, scoring two goals and providing three assists (as per Transfermarkt).

The player’s average performance rating in the German top flight was 6.51/10 (as per WhoScored), which suggests he is capable of performing to a fairly good standard over the course of a single season, however, it could be argued the Toffees have not been overly impressed by what they saw of him last season given O’Keeffe has reported they are looking at full-back options.

The current transfer window will remain open until October 5, which means if Everton are still looking to add further to their squad, they have plenty of time to do it.
