On the latest episode of the Come on You Spurs podcast, host Dan Tracey was joined by fellow Lilywhites supporters Karl William, James McCarthy and @MikeCOYSpurs, as they discussed the latest goings-on at Tottenham Hotspur, with a focus on the transfer window and the recently-released All or Nothing documentary.

One topic of discussion on the most recent podcast, which was titled: ‘All Or Nothing‘, was Spurs right-back Serge Aurier. The Ivory Coast international has been heavily linked with a move away from the North London club this summer, with AC Milan and Bayer Leverkusen seemingly the most interested in signing the former PSG man, who may find himself as a back-up option at Spurs next season due to the Lilywhites’ signing of Matt Doherty earlier in the window.

Here’s what McCarthy had to say about the 27-year-old defender on the podcast:

“I’m celebrating the fact that Serge isn’t our starting right-back more than the fact that we’ve bought Doherty. I think that’s the big plus to take from this. I’ve never been Aurier’s biggest fan, at all. If you think about the things we were criticising him for, he’s completely inept defensively, [his] positioning [is] dreadful and most importantly, that final product is absolutely abysmal. For a player that gets so many opportunities to deliver the ball, it just isn’t good enough.”

TIF Thoughts…

Aurier perhaps finds himself a little unlucky to face so much criticism from McCarthy, considering the Ivorian was Spurs’ third-best performer in the Premier League last season; averaging a strong 7.06 rating (per WhoScored).

Do you agree that Aurier isn't good enough?

However, it seems as if McCarthy is desperate for the £14.4 million-rated man to leave the club this summer, and if he does, Mourinho may be reliant on youngsters such as Japhet Tanganga or Juan Foyth to fill in at right-back when required.
