Spurs fans on Twitter have been reacting to the latest reported update on Brentford striker Ollie Watkins, which suggests that the Lilywhites have entered the race to sign the 24-year-old.
According to Alan Nixon (via The Spurs Express), the north London club have entered the race to sign the former Exeter City man this summer, with Aston Villa also hoping to sign the Englishman ahead of next season. During the 2019/20 campaign, the young striker seriously impressed for the Bees, contributing 26 goals and three assists in 49 league and play-off appearances, which saw him average a superb 7.26/10 rating (per WhoScored).
Therefore, with Thomas Frank’s side’s defeat in the play-off final consigning the west London side to another season in the second tier, it is unsurprising to see Watkins being linked with a move to the Premier League this summer. It can certainly be argued that Jose Mourinho’s side are in need of a striker, considering the lack of options the Portuguese manager had available to him last season following the injury to Harry Kane.
Would Watkins be a good signing for Spurs?
Yes
No
Reaction from Spurs fans to the reported interest in Watkins can be seen in the tweets below.
Shame it’s tier 3, this would be perfect because Ollie can play out wide along side Kane as well as be genuine competition for him up front. I do think he’s going to be too expensive for our liking though.

Hope this is true. Exciting young English forward, who can cover the wide positions, as well as be the CF needed. Would rather spend the £20mill on this guy than Wilson.

Plenty of Spurs fans seem keen on the 24-year-old as a potential signing, with one fan even commenting that he is better than Callum Wilson, who was linked with a move to the Lilywhites earlier in the transfer window but has now joined Newcastle United.
Better than wilson

Ambitious but in the end Levy will be trying to reduce the fee while Villa will come in any say they will meet the asking price and bang hes going up the M6!
