Spurs fans on Twitter have been reacting to a tweet from Alasdair Gold, which relays some quotes from Jose Mourinho’s pre-match conference.
The Portuguese manager spoke to the press ahead of the Lilywhites’ opening game against Everton on Sunday and answered a question regarding the club’s interest in signing a striker during the transfer window. He said (per Alasdair Gold):
“Yes I want, I need a striker, but I want to make it very clear, the club knows I need a striker and they also want a striker. Are we going to get one? Yes, I believe so. For the balance, the team needs it.”
Ahead of Sunday’s game, the north London club currently have just Harry Kane available as a natural striker in their squad, so it is perhaps no surprise to hear that the former Manchester United and Chelsea boss is keen on adding another forward to his ranks. Considering the hectic schedule that the Lilywhites face, particularly in the first month or two of the season, squad depth is certainly looking to be a hugely important factor for the season ahead.
