Journalist Miguel Delaney has recently made a claim about Gareth Bale and how much he could earn if he joins Tottenham on loan from Real Madrid.

Delaney was a guest on the latest episode of OTB Football’s The Football Show, during which the panel discussed multiple issues regarding English football. They also focused on Bale, who is seemingly set to complete a loan move to Spurs. Delaney believes that Spurs might not be comfortable with the idea of Bale earning more wages than Harry Kane.

Sky Sports recently reported that Bale has completed his Spurs medical and Tottenham have agreed to pay around £20m in wages and loan fees. The report claims that the loan deal is expected to be finalised before he heads to London.

When talking about what Bale’s wages could be, Delaney said that he can’t see the Welshman earning more than Kane currently earns at Spurs.

He said: “I’d imagine [Bale’s wages will be] closer to £250k [per week] because the other side to this as well is that given the dressing room politics and things like that, I don’t think they’d be comfortable with him getting paid more than Harry Kane.

“There’s a certain amount of speculation to all these figures, but from what we know, I think Kane’s in or around £250k and I can’t see Bale being given more than that by Spurs, certainly.”

TIF Thoughts…

It was reported that as part of the loan deal, Real Madrid would be prepared to pay the majority of Bale’s wages as they want to get a part of his salary removed from their own wage bill. The Welshman is reported to have been earning around £600k a week at Real Madrid but that amount has been disputed by the Spanish media (as per Evening Standard).

As per the Daily Mail, Kane earns £200,000-a-week in his current contract and that is less than what Delaney estimated he earns. There are clearly some inconsistencies in terms of the information surrounding the wages of both the players. So perhaps it is best for fans to wait for the official announcement and see how much Bale earns in his potential loan deal at Spurs.
