Football journalist Ian McGarry has been talking about Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Dele Alli and the possibility of him leaving the North London club on a loan deal before the current summer transfer window closes.

This comes after McGarry recently hosted the latest episode of The Transfer Window podcast alongside football journalist Duncan Castles where they covered a number of transfer-related topics concerning a variety of Premier League teams.

After it was recently reported that Italian club Inter Milan could be looking to sign Alli in the coming weeks, McGarry had this to say on a potential loan move for Alli to Antonio Conte’s side.

He said: “That would include a loan fee of around €6 million as well as Inter paying his wages. It’s also our understanding the player is not keen to leave England. However, in terms of both his [club] career, but as well as his international [career], which has, it’s fair to say, definitely gone downhill in the last few months as well and with Euro 2020 being restaged next summer on the horizon, [Alli] needs to do something radical in order to get himself back on track.”

Tottenham signed Alli back in February 2015 from MK Dons for £5.97 million before then sending him back on loan until the summer of 2015. Since then, the 24-year-old has made 223 appearances for Jose Mourinho’s side in which he has scored 62 goals and provided 55 assists along the way (per Transfermarkt).

So far this season, Alli has only played 45 minutes of action for Spurs which came in the first half of their 1-0 defeat to Everton earlier in the month.

Alli was then left out of Spurs’ squad for their recent 5-2 win over Southampton at the weekend which reportedly left the other players in the squad ‘stunned’ at the time.

TIF Thoughts…

With Alli not making an appearance for Spurs since their first league game of the season, it’s clear why these rumours linking him with a move away to the likes of Inter have arisen.

It will be interesting to see if Alli does make a move away from Spurs in the coming weeks or if he will return to the squad and start playing again.
