Spurs fans: How well can you remember the last week of THFC action? - 1. Who scored Spurs' first goal of the season?

One of the topics that he spent some time on was Spurs’ defence and the fact that Jose Mourinho wants another body in the centre of the backline.

It seems as if Achillea is not happy with Tottenham’s defence, who have conceded three goals in their first two Premier League games, and he thinks Mourinho wants another centre-back.

He said: “I am really not happy with the defence at the moment; we seem to be leaking a lot of goals, especially from set-pieces or long balls over the top.

“I think Mourinho is really pushing for a new centre-back, which I hope he does, and we do get a quality one to come in to sort that side out.”

Do you think Spurs need another centre-back?

Yes, we need to improve this area

TIF Thoughts…

In Tottenham’s opening two Premier League fixtures against Everton and Southampton, Eric Dier has started both games, and in one game, he was partnered with Davinson Sanchez, and in another, he was paired with Toby Alderweireld.

Dier has earned one poor rating of 6.41 and one decent rating of 6.9, while Sanchez earned a rating of 6.77, so worse than Dier.

Alderweireld, on the other hand, earned a rating of 6.61, a bit better than Dier in that game but not great.

So, you can see why Achillea is not happy with the defence because of the three league goals conceded and Dier, Sanchez, and Alderweireld’s performances.

Moving forward, it will be interesting to see if Spurs do buy another centre-back before the end of the transfer window.
