Tottenham Hotspur fans on Twitter have been responding to the latest news concerning Lilywhites full-back Danny Rose.
This comes after Spurs-focused Twitter account @LastWordOnSpurs shared a post relaying news originally published by football journalist David Ornstein in an article for The Athletic.
Ornstein revealed that Rose was not made aware of the fact that he was not given a squad number for the current season at Spurs until after it was made public.
He also added that Rose found out about the news after someone called him after seeing the announcement on television.
This post then gathered a lot of replies from Spurs fans, who were quick to share their thoughts on the matter.
Here’s a sample of Spurs fans responding to the post:
?[@TheAthleticUK] | Tottenham Hotspur failed to notify Danny Rose that he wasn’t given a squad number at Spurs before it was revealed to the public.
?Rose received a call with the news breaking on TV with the player training with the U23’s.#THFC #COYSpic.twitter.com/7fs9Tuu3GE

This is a disgraceful way for a player who’s given so many years good service to bow out. If we treated players well on the way out perhaps new prospects would be more inclined to join.

Rose signed for Spurs back in 2007 from Leeds United’s U18 squad for a fee of £900k. Since then, the Englishman has gone on to make a total of 214 appearances for the club, in which he has managed to score 10 goals and provide 29 assists along the way (per Transfermarkt).
Disgraceful the way the club have treated him, no wonder nobody wants to join us, Rose is still a good player, we could have done with him yesterday!!

This is just disrespectful to Danny. I know he hasn’t done himself some favours in the past. But he has been through a lot with injuries and mental health. Done with the club until this board is gone. Probably be for a few years but all well.

Do you think Spurs have been disrespectful to Danny Rose?
Yes

It appears that these Spurs fans are not pleased by the fact that the club failed to inform Rose that he wouldn’t be given a squad number this season.
In our view, the very least the north London club could have done was to let Rose know about it themselves instead of waiting for him to find out himself or through someone else.
