Fans of Leeds United have been reacting to a post on Twitter, in which the club’s centre-back, Robin Koch, shared his reaction to Leeds’ 4-3 defeat against Liverpool at the weekend.

The defender, who joined the club in an £11.7 million deal from SC Freiburg in August, tweeted: “Thrilling debut – thrilling start of the season. A match with ups and downs and unfortunately we can’t bring home any points but we will keep fighting like this and we will keep marching on together.”

Nice easy one to start with, who scored Leeds' first goal of the PL season?

The match was indeed thrilling, with Mohamed Salah giving the Merseyside club the lead from the spot after only four minutes, after Koch was penalised for handling the ball in the penalty area, before Jack Harrison levelled for Marcelo Bielsa’s side. Virgil van Dijk then restored Liverpool’s lead, only for Patrick Bamford to once again level things up. Salah then got his second of the game, with the score at half time being 3-2 to the Reds.

Mateusz Klich equalised for Leeds for the third time in the match midway through the second half, only for one of United’s debutants, Rodrigo, to give away an 88th minute penalty, which Salah converted for his hat-trick, and sealed all three points for the Premier League champions.

Following Koch’s tweet, fans of the club flocked to have their say on the matter, with many telling the 24-year-old not to worry about the penalty he gave away, and that they were impressed with him on his Premier League and Leeds United debut.

While the defender appeared to not be too disheartened by the result, in addition to Leeds fans being complimentary of Koch’s performance, according to WhoScored, the German international did not have the best of games.

According to the website, Koch, who is valued at £15.3 million (as per Transfermarkt), registered a match rating of 6.18, meaning that, out of the Leeds starting XI, only Illan Meslier and Pablo Hernandez performed worse than the 24-year-old.
