Many Tottenham Hotspur fans have been responding to a post from Alasdair Gold in which he reported that Harry Kane could feature in the club’s Carabao Cup tie versus Leyton Orient.
Jose Mourinho’s side thumped Southampton at St. Mary’s this weekend after an impressive second-half display with Son Heung-min scoring four goals, all assisted by Kane (as per WhoScored). Gold, the Spurs correspondent for Football.london, has shared some quotes from the boss ahead of the cup tie in which he suggested that the England striker would likely feature.
Here is how a sample of the club’s supporters responded to the post on Twitter.
I’d rather him on the bench… play Thursday and Sunday

100% means another striker is just around the corner. Kane can’t play that much without there being a striker close to being signed, to rest Kane soon. ??

Kane missed a total of 16 games for the Lilywhites last season through fitness issues and illness (as per Transfermarkt), taking that into consideration you can understand why some of these supporters had hoped to see him rested against Leyton Orient, especially with the fixture pile-up awaiting Spurs in the coming weeks and months.
Although Mourinho did not specify how much of a part the forward was likely to play, you could argue that given their lack of backup in terms of a natural centre-forward, he shouldn’t feature at all.
