Speaking recently on the Here We Go podcast, Fabrizio Romano provided an update on Tottenham Hotspur’s potential deal for Napoli striker, Arkadiusz Milik.

Since moving to Napoli from Ajax in what was a £28.8 million deal back in 2016, Milik has gone on to feature 122 times for the Serie A side, scoring 48 goals and providing five assists along the way.

Last season, the forward featured 26 times in the league for Napoli, scoring 11 goals and averaging a WhoScored match rating of 6.88.

However, earlier this month, it looked as if Milik would be leaving Napoli, after Nicolo Schira reported that the club had agreed to sell the striker to fellow Serie A side AS Roma, in what was an initial one-year loan deal with a €25 million (£22.9 million) obligation to buy clause, plus add-ons.

He added that the Poland international would be signing a contract until 2025 with I Giallorossi, worth €4.5 million (£4.1 million) per year, plus add-ons.

However, Romano then tweeted on Tuesday that Spurs had ‘been offered’ the £28.8 million-rated 26-year-old striker, after his proposed move to AS Roma had ‘collapsed’.

This potential deal is something that Romano discussed on Wednesday’s edition of the Here We Go podcast, with the journalist stating that Spurs are indeed considering making a move for the striker.

He said: “Today, here in Milano, [there will be] a meeting between the agents of Milik and people from Tottenham – intermediaries who are working for Tottenham – and he has been offered [to Spurs] because he’s one of the options as the new striker that Tottenham [want] because they need a striker, a backup option for Harry Kane.

“Milik is a good opportunity, Tottenham are considering him on loan with [an] option to buy – so this could be, eventually, the bid [from] Tottenham. At the moment, [there] is nothing advanced yet. They are considering him; they are speaking about him also with [Jose] Mourinho.

“Milik is [on their] list, he’s been offered [to Tottenham], so we have to see what happens today, because there will be a meeting and Tottenham will decide about Arkadiusz Milik.”

TIF Thoughts…

From Romano’s comments, it certainly seems as if the journalist is of the belief that Spurs are very definitely considering the purchase of Milik.

Considering the fact that Kane is the club’s only out-and-out striker in their first-team squad at present, the addition of a second striker to act as back up, or even to challenge Kane for his starting position, would, in our opinion, be a very clever move by Tottenham, especially as the club have a rather packed fixture schedule over the coming weeks.
