On the latest episode of The View from the Lane podcast for The Athletic, Jack Pitt-Brooke, James Maw and Charlie Eccleshare have been discussing Tottenham Hotspur’s recent transfer business and reflecting on the first three released episodes of the ‘All or Nothing’ documentary.

One topic of discussion on the recent episode was the meeting between Harry Kane and Jose Mourinho during the documentary series. Pitt-Brooke is complimentary of the way the Portuguese manager calls Kane into his office for a one-on-one meeting during the documentary and was particularly happy with the way he spoke to the England captain.

Which player scored Spurs' first goal of the Premier League campaign?

Here’s what he had to say about the conversation between the two during the podcast:

“One thing I did like, those one-on-one meetings, I think, are incredible. My favourite is probably the one with Kane, because it’s obvious what Mourinho is trying to do, which is to inflate Kane’s ego and rub him up the right way and tell him that he can make him a superstar. He starts talking to Kane about how he’s going to make him a big name but within about a sentence he’s talking about how he’s a big name.

“He says: ‘the world looks to English football with incredible respect but they still think the movie stars of football belong to other places. We have to build your status in that direction. My profile, I am a little bit like that as a coach. The reality is that my dimension is universal and by being with me, I can help you.’ It’s just so good. It’s just like the classic, classic, classic Mourinho. I thought that bit was amazing, and Kane completely buys it.”

TIF Thoughts…

Pitt-Brooke clearly enjoyed the meeting between Kane and Mourinho and seems excited about how the Portuguese manager may be able to turn the 27-year-old into a real superstar in world football. Considering the academy graduate contributed 18 goals in 29 Premier League appearances last season (per WhoScored), despite his long-term injury, the early signs are certainly good.

Both Mourinho and Spurs fans will be hoping that the striker can continue his form from after the Premier League restart in the 2019/20 campaign, when he hit seven goals in nine games.
