Newcastle United fans on Twitter have been responding to a transfer claim concerning the club.
This comes after Newcastle news Twitter account @NUFC360 shared a post relaying a claim made on TalkSPORT (via The Chronicle, 16.15) that Newcastle could use Matt Ritchie as part of a deal to bring AFC Bournemouth striker Callum Wilson to the club this summer.
This post then gathered a lot of replies from Newcastle fans, who were quick to share their thoughts on this potential move from the club.
Here’s a sample of Newcastle fans responding to the post:

Whatever it takes. We need a striker,

Ritchie signed to Newcastle from Bournemouth back in the 2016 summer transfer window for a fee of £10.8 million. Since then, the 30-year-old, who is currently valued at £8.55 million, has made 148 appearances for the club in which he has scored 24 goals and provide 27 assists along the way (per Transfermarkt).
Could be a good move, Ritchie isn’t a PL winger and if we get an actual LB in then he’ll find it hard to get in the squad.

As much as I love Ritchie I’d be perfectly fine with this, we have plenty people to play where Ritchie plays and pretty much no strikers

Now that this claim has been relayed onto Twitter, this sparked a huge reaction, with plenty of Toon fans responding to the post with their thoughts on this potential deal between Newcastle and Bournemouth.
However, there were some Newcastle fans responding to the post who were not as keen to see the club use Ritchie as part of a potential deal to sign Wilson this summer.
Shouldn’t have to lose a first team player to sign another ,,should be able to pay for Wilson club is a shambles ,, premiere league a disgrace !!

Would you be willing to use Matt Ritchie as part of a deal for Callum Wilson?
Yes
No
Probably no substance to this story whatsoever but we need to keep Ritchie. Should be going after Wilson outright and if we did need to player exchange it should be Gayle

Looking at these replies from this group of Newcastle fans, it appears that the idea of using Ritchie as part of a potential deal for Wilson has completely split opinion.
If Newcastle were to make this move for Wilson in exchange for Ritchie, a big factor of the deal could be down to whether or not Bournemouth would be willing to accept former player Ritchie as part of the deal.
