During the latest video for his YouTube channel, Football.london reporter Alasdair Gold has been discussing the latest goings-on at Tottenham Hotspur, reflecting on the 2-1 friendly defeat against Watford and shedding some light on some of the transfer business that the Lilywhites could do before the end of the window.

One topic of discussion on his recent video was Spurs’ interest in signing a striker this summer. The Lilywhites have already confirmed the signings of Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, Joe Hart and Matt Doherty in the summer transfer window (per Transfermarkt), and it seems as if Gold feels that the North London club will turn their attention to adding a forward to their side before the end of the window.

Which player scored Spurs' first goal of the Premier League campaign?

After Troy Parrott joined Millwall on loan earlier in the window, Jose Mourinho has just Harry Kane available to him as a natural striker in his squad, so it is perhaps unsurprising to hear that the Lilywhites are keen to add another forward.

Here’s what Gold had to say about Spurs’ interest in a striker during his video:

“Full focus from the club, I’m told, is looking for that striker, it’s getting that striker through the door. I have actually been told in the last few days that there’s been a lot of talk that funding-wise, Spurs were really looking to try and get some sales done to get some money in, but I’m told that there’s enough funds for a reasonably-priced striker right now, so they’re looking to try and get that done.”

TIF Thoughts…

Considering the lack of attacking options Mourinho was left with last season following the injury to Harry Kane you can certainly understand why it is a priority for the Lilywhites to sign a striker this summer.

They had been linked with a move for Callum Wilson but he has now completed a move to Newcastle United, so it will be interesting to see who the north London club target, although, with the season set to kick off for Spurs on Sunday against Everton, they will arguably need to act fast.
