Spurs fans on Twitter have been reacting to a reported update on Gareth Bale, which suggests that Real Madrid are willing to pay half of his wages to facilitate his departure this summer.
According to The Telegraph (via Daily Hotspur), Los Blancos are desperate to be rid of the Welsh international this summer, and will offer to pay half of his wages should he join another side during the current transfer window. The report suggests that Zinedine Zidane and the 31-year-old are barely on speaking terms and that the Spanish giants are now willing to pay a sizeable chunk of his salary in order to pave the way for a move away.
The former Spurs man appeared just 16 times in the Spanish top flight last season, contributing two goals and two assists, which saw him average an uninspiring 6.82/10 rating (per WhoScored). You could argue that if he were to move back to the Premier League, he may favour a move to his old side, where he made 203 appearances in all competitions, but even having to pay 50% of his wages may prove too much for Daniel Levy, as he reportedly earns £600,000 a week in Madrid, meaning that the Lilywhites would presumably still have to pay around £300,000 a week in order to see him play for them next season.
Do you think there's any chance of Bale returning this summer?

Depending on what his pay actually is this could happen. I have seen figures anywhere between 350k a week to 600k. This would be a dream signing.

Plenty of Spurs fans seem hopeful that this possible reduction in wages would encourage Levy to make a move for the winger.

Overall, it seems clear that the majority of Spurs fans would love to see Bale, who is valued at £25.2 million (as per Transfermarkt), back at the club and feel that this update gives them at least a chance of securing his return.
