To get things started a rather easy one. Who scored Newcastle's first league goal of the season?

On Wednesday, Newcastle released a statement confirming that the Premier League had rejected the club’s proposed takeover by PCP Capital Partners, Reuben brothers and PIF.

This comes after the group officially withdrew its bid to buy the Toon on 30th July after the Premier League failed to decide on an outcome.

This led to Hope producing an article that claims current owner Mike Ashley has been told he has a strong case for legal action against the Premier League and that he is ‘furious’ with them.

Do you think Ashley will launch legal action?

Yes, he wants that money

This post drew the attention of many Toon fans, who are hoping Ashley can somehow get the takeover done.

However, Hope followed this up with another tweet to claim that he does not think this will lead to the takeover coming back as PIF did withdraw in the first place due to economic factors.

He thinks any further action from the club will merely be Ashley expressing his anger at the situation, which also unites the fanbase against the Premier League.

Despite this, though, these Toon fans hope this will lead to the takeover coming back at some point.

The deal for Ashley to sell to Amanda Staveley’s Saudi-backed consortium was agreed in April, and a deposit was paid to the Toon owner.

However, challenges emerged from the likes of BeIN Sports while the Premier League failed to come to a timely decision.

One issue over who would actually be in control of the club – either PIF or the Saudi state – could not be agreed on, and the Premier League offered arbitration to settle the matter as the consortium refused, prior to the deal being officially rejected.

So, it will be interesting to see what steps Ashley takes given he is thought to have a strong case for legal action.
