Spurs fans: How well can you remember the last week of THFC action? - 1. Who scored Spurs' first goal of the season?

One of the topics that came up while he was discussing Spurs was Jose Mourinho’s interest in Benfica forward Haris Seferovic.

The Swiss international has been put up for sale by his club, and Mourinho is a fan, but the journalist hinted that the asking price of the player might prove to be a stumbling block in any potential deal.

It seems as if Mourinho was keen to bring the 28-year-old to north London, but the Portuguese side are asking for between €20-25m (£18.35-22.93m) for Seferovic, according to Castles.

He said: “Interestingly, I think Jose Mourinho quite likes Seferovic and saw him as a potential option to bring in alongside Harry Kane.

“But, Benfica are asking quite a high price for Seferovic – I think €20-25m for the player.”

TIF Thoughts…

There is no mention from Castles that this asking price has put Tottenham off, but considering their budget has been slashed, and they have already spent £57.06m in this transfer window since the end of last season, it could be possible that this price for Seferovic is out of Spurs’ range.

The Swiss striker scored five goals last season in the league and earned an average rating of 6.47.

This goal record would have made him Tottenham’s fourth-top Premier League goalscorer but his average match rating would have ranked him in 23rd place in Spurs’ squad.

So, going off this, you can’t really see why Mourinho supposedly wants him, but it will be intriguing to see if Spurs do decide to make a move for the 28-year-old.
